My job
So,
At odds with the job again! Seems like it wasn't going to happen so soon. To update some...I left Delta voluntarily in Jan 2006...was tired of being away (I was always flying the Paris flight-gone about 15 days/month). I got a job as a paralegal at an immigration law firm and absolutely loved it. I got pregnant after starting the job and left their on maternity in Oct 2006 when Reese was born. I left the law firm in Jan 2007 when Rob and I decided that we were going to move south. It was the hardest decision that we ever made. I can still remember crying as we closed the door for the final time on our NYC apartment and our life there. That is why I feel we must go back...it was never time to leave. It is a city that we loved from the beginning...where we met, married, and had our family.
So I stayed home with Reese until Delta called me back in Oct 2007 (I didn't have to start until Mar 2008). It was a voluntary option, but one I thought would be a good one. I enjoyed going back in the beginning, but in May I decided to take the French test again (to fly Paris) and that is where the problems have started. I don't know why, but the Paris layover makes my lonely. I don't mind being on the plane...helping passengers, etc....but I don't want to be anywhere for 24 hours without my husband and now my daughter. I see why the always wanted flight attendants to quit at 35 or when they got married...too hard to be away. I have always said that when we move back to NYC that I will fly turns, but now I am considering trying to go back to the law firm...don't know what to do at this point. I love that I only work 3 days/week versus 5, but I can't keep spending the night away from my family....what is the best solution....guess only soul searching will help.

July 4th
Ok,
Can't post any pics yet...haven't downloaded them to the computer, but I thought I could at least write and download later! So on the 4th we took the golf cart down to the parade and met up with Corrine, Paul and family. It was a lot of fun. Reese really loved the parade...loved clapping and dancing to the music. We had a lot of fun in the "traffic" too. So funny to have golf cart traffic and to think that we are a large part of the cause considering that we are a slow cart. Rob pulled over multiple times, but I finally told him to stop b/c we would never get home at this rate...when 40 carts are coming -ok a little exaggeration!!!!! sp?
After the parade we came home and had naps (yes all of us!) and then went up to my younger brother Joel's house. We went to the pool in their neighborhood (so fun!) and then ate at their house. We even decided to go out and see the fireworks-Reese loved it. She sat with us and then when she saw all the kids lying down on the blanket watching it (they are 4-7 ages) she decided that she should sit with them...to cute. She wasn't afraid of the noise...so maybe we will try again next year!
The next day, Rob and I left her at my brother's house...they have two boys (4 and 7) who adore Reese and vice versa. Rob and I went to the Motley Crue concert in Charlotte, NC. It was great. I adore Nikki Sixx and was sad that we missed Sixx AM, but Papa Roach was really awesome...glad that we caught that one! It was a festival, but we thought drinking at the hotel bar would be better than sitting at the venue! ha. Buckcherry came on before Motley-and they were awful. Amazed how many people liked them (to each their own!). Anyway....Motley was great...sounded great, awesome set, and loud!
We had a great weekend...will post pics later!

July!!!
Wow, the first day of July was amazing here in ATL. Would never believe that it was summer! I know that the heat will return, but it was great to be able to go the playground again. The heat is ok because Reese really loves going to the pool, but a change of scenery is always nice.
So, my friend Jessica had a baby boy last Friday morning. He is so adorable. I told Reese that Jessica had the baby and she told me that the baby was crying (too cute!). She takes out the baby bottles that are in "her" cabinet and tells me they are for baby Cam (his name is Cameron). She got to see him on Saturday and she gave him a very sweet kiss!!! Loved it. Jessica is doing great and we can't wait to help her out in the coming months (I am sure mostly by coming over and entertaining Isabella!)....maybe mom will get to sleep a little bit while we are there???
So this summer we are borrowing my parents golf cart again-they summer in California-and Reese just loves it. We used it last year, but of course she never really noticed the difference between the car and golf cart. We have a car seat on the cart for her and every time we leave the house she tells you that she wants to sit in her seat. She is very disappointed when you tell her that we are going in the car...sometimes she really doesn't like it. Too bad everything isn't accessible on the golf cart! Well I guess a lot of it is, but we don't always have the time.
Hope everyone has a great 4th of July and we will post pics of the parade and our day with Reese's cousins after the 4th.

New Friends
Now Jessica...this one will make me cry.
I have to say that I have made some really great friends since we have moved here. Lately I have been thinking about how hard it will be when the time comes to say goodbye. Boy, I thought leaving NYC was tough. I think it will also be really hard on Reese too. Tonight we went to dinner with many people from our MOMS club, but then after dinner we were outside with some of our friends and Reese was just having a great time. The fact that she feels a strong attachment to my friends-especially Jessica and Ryan as of late-will be hard to remove her from here. I do hope that we can continue our friendships when our time comes to leave because Rob and I have always been able to continue long distance friendships.
It also shows that I can rely on many of the people that I have met for the support that our MOMS club is supposed to offer-Kristi, I will definitely call you! Rob works late a lot too and I know that Reese adores Nathan.
I just have to say that it is so nice to meet such quality friends at this point in our lives!

me
Well, I am sitting here on a Thurs morning at 7:30 and it is rare, but Reese is not up yet. It is kind of nice because I was able to scan her artwork correctly this morning....couldn't quite get the scanner to function properly yesterday (this is why I need Rob around!!!).
I miss Rob so much...I think this is the longest we have been apart since we moved in together in 2003. He did go to Kazakhstan while I was pregnant, but I don't think that trip was as long. I am used to being the one who travels....I hate being alone overnight. I have to say that having Reese here has made a world of difference overnight! I get a little spooked at night....don't know what I would've done if we were in a big house (would probably have to have guests every night!).
Rob's trip has not been that great. He has been working since sunrise to well into the night. He certainly has not seen any of the sites of Seoul nor do I think has he even been able to pick up a little trinket for Reese (which is ok since she doesn't even realize where he is). He is leaving for home tonight....they are 13 hours ahead of us so it will be morning for him. I am dropping Reese off tomorrow at Royal Learners since his flight will get in around nap time and then also Rob and I can have some time to catch up (that is if he is awake!).
Reese and I have certainly kept ourselves busy this week (easier than just sitting here moping that Rob isn't around). Reese loves the pool so we usually go there in the afternoons. It is nice because after 5 pm the pool starts to go in the shade and so I don't have to worry about burning!
Hope you are having a great day and good travel wishes for Rob as he makes his way home to us.

What's new with us
Just a little update on what is going on here at the Halverson's. I took my French test for Delta again (figured if I have to fly 3-day trips I may as well start going back to Paris!) and so I have resumed going to Europe again. I am dreading the jet lag, but hopefully I will find a balance like I have done with returning back to work. Also with the Paris flights I get to see Reese on the morning of the first day of my trip and the afternoon when I return, so I really only miss her one day. It is hard not putting her to bed each night, but I must say that we have all adjusted.
Reese is doing really well at daycare too. I feel that at least she is not growing up in daycare since she only goes 2-3 days/week. It is also a chance for her grammy to see her on the live camera broadcasting from her daycare (well that is when it is working!). She has started counting to 10 and she is also saying her ABC's...not all the ABC's in a row, but when you sing the Alphabet song she says certain letters in the right places!!! So cool. She talks so much too. When we pick her up from daycare she tells you all about her day...the teachers, other kids, what they did, etc. I really think that she is enjoying herself there.
Rob is in Korea this week. He is over there for the project that he is working on. He left yesterday and will be back on Friday. We got to say hello to him this morning when he called....he was sooo tired and anxious to get to bed.
We have our new bed (thank goodness). Amazing how a queen can feel so big when you are used to a double!!! The bed itself is beautiful too. So glad that we finally bought it...since we have been talking about getting it for some time now. I don't really know what was holding me back!
Oh, the last little new piece of news....I bought Reese some sunglasses in Paris last week (they were just so cute and I really want her to wear them since she is always sensitive to the light). She absolutely loves them....this is a picture of her wearing them while eating her snack on Father's day! Rob
says that she insisted on
wearing them while eating! She looks too cool, huh?
